Turner Peridotite Project
Overview
- Located in north-central Dickinson County Michigan, USA
- Host ultramafic/mafic intrusion trending east-west over 12,000 meters
- 395-line kilometer VTEM survey has revealed multiple drill targets
- Ground geophysical exploration and drilling planned for 2012
History
This area remains largely unexplored with no known drilling despite the intrusion’s favorable chemistry, including anomalous nickel, copper, chromium, platinum, palladium, and up to 34% MgO in outcrop samples. Aquila has entered into a 4-year exploration and option to purchase agreement with Prime Meridian Resources Inc. on 1,375 hectares of private and State mineral and surface leases covering over 95% of the intrusion.
Geology
The Turner Peridotite is an ultramafic/mafic intrusion located in north-central Dickinson County, Michigan, 43 miles north of the Back Forty Project. The intrusion is of unknown age and consists mostly of fine-grained, serpentinized peridotite in outcrop. A historical aeromagnetic survey shows a closed, high intensity (max 2,500 gammas) magnetic anomaly over the intrusion, trending approximately east-west and striking over 10 miles.
A 266-line kilometer Geotech VTEM heliborne geophysical survey was flown over the intrusion and surrounding area. A gravity profile over the magnetic anomaly followed the VTEM survey and the data revealed promising drill targets. A detailed gravimetric survey is planned for next winter to better define specific drill targets for future drilling.
